An Evening Without

Most Tuesday nights, our son attends Cadets at our church. This, in the past, has meant that DD and I have the evening to ourselves. Typically I allow her to dictate the evening as it isn’t often that her older brother is not around to direct her life for her! Tonight she choose to play Harvest Moon, since it would be with out constant input as to how she could play the game better than she was playing the game.

Having a brother gone, often means that she gets to stay up late as it “isn’t fair to have to go to bed while he is still out having fun.” Which translates into me orchestrating her into bed for other means, like a time to read and snuggle with ZigZag. Or, Quiet Relaxation Hour in our rooms. All of which happen precisely the hour the clock announces normal bed time.

Tonight, I tried to share a nice cup of Chamomile tea with her and then segue into reading into bed. But she had other plans, which were, quite lovely!
